Cherry wood is known for its strength and durability. Although it’s also called “New England mahogany,” our cherry wood comes from Northern Michigan – home of the cherry capital of the world. The heartwood’s reddish-gold hue is one of the defining characteristics of cherry wood. It has a satiny feel and is rarer than maple or oak.
Product care: Hand wash with a sponge and soapy water on both sides to prevent warping. Rinse and dry with a clean dish towel or paper towel. Allow the board to dry vertically before putting it away. Use food-safe mineral oil to regularly condition the board.
All of the wood that we use in our shop comes from trees that have been selectively harvested.
